Which Housing Program is Right for You?

Supported Independent Living (SIL) 

SIL is for individuals ages 18-21 who aged out of foster care and want to participant in extended foster care.

Enrolled in extended foster care. Young adults are required by the state to be working, going to school, or volunteering.

Speak with your case worker and have them submit a referral through SJRC Texas Belong to be referred to the THRU Project SIL Program. 

THRU Project Housing Resource Coordinators meet with the young adult at least once a month and have weekly check-ins via phone. 

Housing Resource Coordinators help maintain clean apartments, support young adults with budgeting, and teach essential life skills. 

College Housing 

College Housing Program allows young adults with a history of foster care to focus on getting a college degree without worrying about rent. 

Enrolled in extended foster care. Young adults are required by the state to be working, going to school, or volunteering.
